Honoring Veterans Day

First recognized as Armistice Day, Veterans Day originated as a day to reflect upon the heroism of those who died in our country’s service. It was commemorated on the “11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month”, in 1918, to honor the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I.

While the holiday continues to be celebrated each year on November 11, it was changed in 1954 to Veterans Day in order to honor all veterans in all wars. For one day, we stand united in respect for our veterans.

Because of his lifetime of service, Don Ross is particularly passionate about helping active and inactive military personnel, police officers, and other first responders who serve as they prepare to retire.  After 25 years of service as a pilot in the Ohio National Guard, Don reenlisted into the Reserves two years ago and currently serves as a career counselor in addition to his work in financial planning.

He says, “It is important to me to help those who are like-minded with their retirement planning and guide them to make the right decision to prepare to retire, or who may already be retired.”

At Ross Wealth Advisors, we are thankful to all of our servicemen and women for their service that guarantees our freedom. It is important to us to provide practical and proven financial strategies for those close to or already retired, including guidance about tax savings, income planning and estate planning and preservation. Don notes, “It’s not the final chapter in the book of life but rather the beginning… a second act.”
